Want the best coffee at Melbourne Airport?

The Bean Cartel is about to make it happen!

Starting late July 2025, travellers will finally be able to enjoy a coffee that lives up to Melbourne’s café culture, right in terminal 3.

The Bean Cartel is pumped to have been selected as the first roaster for Coffee Capital, Melbourne Airport’s specialty coffee destination.

A Better Coffee Experience for Travellers

Airport coffee sterotypically had a reputation for being average or rushed. Coffee Capital, by SSP Australia is here to change that, offering a rotating roaster residency where every few months a different premium Melbourne roaster will take centre stage, showcasing their craft.

The Bean Cartel is proud to kick off the opening serving:

  • Specialty wholesale coffee roasted locally in Notting Hill, Melbourne

  • Anything but basic blends

  • Smashing single origins
  • Fast, consistent service for great coffee, even on a tight schedule

Whether you’re a Melbourne local, a business traveller, or just stopping by, this is your chance to enjoy the best coffee at Melbourne Airport, made to the same standards you’d expect in the laneways of the CBD.

Who We Are

At The Bean Cartel, we’re all about award winning, quality coffee roasted in Melbourne. For over a decade, we’ve been supplying some of Australia’s best cafés, corporates and home baristas. Now, we’re bringing that enthusiasm to Melbourne Airport.

Collaboration with SSP Australia

This project has been shaped by a close collaboration between our General Manager, Melissa Glentis and Martin Nguyen, National Coffee Operations Manager at SSP Australia & New Zealand.

Together with their teams, every detail has been carefully planned for travellers and airport visitors.

The Bean Cartel Managing Director Stacy Visser, says the “team is buzzing to be the first to represent at Coffee Capital”, while fellow Director Alison Visser says the roaster is “excited for the opportunity to showcase what [they] do”.

A New Milestone for The Bean Cartel

Earlier this year, The Bean Cartel was recognised at the Golden Bean Australasia Awards with double gold medals, celebrating the exceptional quality of our coffee amongst a high calibre of competition.

Moments like these reaffirm why we do what we do and why we're excited to bring our award-winning specialty coffee to more people in more places, including one of Australia’s busiest travel hubs.

From Roastery to Runway – Raising the Bar for Airport Coffee

Melbourne is known worldwide as a global coffee capital, but until now, finding a cup at the airport that truly lives up to our reputation may have been challenging.

Coffee Capital is a space where excellence isn’t sacrificed for speed or convenience. By partnering with Melbourne Airport and SSP, The Bean Cartel is setting a new benchmark Melbourne Airport travellers can count on.

Why Stop by Coffee Capital?

Coffee Capital is designed to give travellers:

  • A taste of Melbourne’s coffee culture

  • Quick, consistent service so you can enjoy a proper coffee, even on a tight schedule

  • The chance to experience Melbourne's best coffee roasters
